NEW YORK, NY, May 18, 2011 — Jay A. Rodin, Eric G. Abitbol and David B. Newman have joined Brock Securities, a subsidiary of Brock Securities Group LLC. Operating as Brock Securities Markets, they will substantially enhance the capital raising and associated investment banking activities of the Brock Group. The team has arranged capital markets transactions in excess of $5 billion. These transactions included public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), private investments in public equity (PIPEs) and secondary offerings. The industry expertise of Brock Securities Markets includes the maritime, metals and mining, energy, real estate and financial sectors.
Jay A. Rodin, who will lead the Brock Securities Markets group, has over 27 years experience in capital markets and investment banking. Before joining Brock he was a managing director at S. Goldman Capital; president of Idea Group Holdings, a boutique investment bank specializing in raising capital through conventional and alternative structures; a senior managing director of Sunrise Securities Corp; head of Nomura Securities’ global equity sales desk; and president of Carlyle Securities, a merchant banking boutique.
Eric G. Abitbol has over 12 years of experience in capital markets and investment banking. He has raised capital for international and domestic public and private companies using debt, equity and innovative equity- related financing instruments. Eric’s clients are hedge funds, mutual funds, private equity firms, family offices and foundations. He was formerly a managing director of Sunrise Securities Corp. and, earlier, worked for National Bank of Canada.
David B. Newman has 20 years of experience in real estate investment, capital markets, management and development. Prior to joining Brock he was the chief investment officer of Empire American Holdings LLC, one of the largest national multi-family property owners in the United States. Earlier he was part of the retail development group at The Related Companies; general counsel of Strategic Development Concepts, Inc., a Westchester based real estate company; and part of the corporate practice group at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.
